E. Pauline Johnson (Tekahionwake)

Tehahionwake was born in 1861 on the Six Nations reserve in Ontario.  She was the daughter of a Mohawk chief and a white woman.  She was a famous poet and "is widely regarded as the earliest Canadian native writer to explore native topics in fiction and poetry" (Childerhose)
